As I have been chewing on the readings this week before Holy Week, I am struck by the infernal interplay between God-with-us and the intensely hostile human response to that divine presence.  This week the liturgy is preparing us for next week’s fearful entry into the final playing out of humanity’s radical hatred for God, and God’s radically compassionate love for humanity.

The spiritual key is to allow the texts of the liturgy to grant each of us personal entrance into this drama, and allow our own masked hostilities,  unmasked by Truth during this Lenten season, to be healed by the tears of our Accursed God.
