I want to be a good father…

A really excellent father I knew in Florida years ago said to me after our first child was born, “The greatest thing a father can do for his children is to love and honor their mother.”

What I realize now 16 years later is that the meaning of this seemingly simple piece of advice goes far deeper than I ever imagined. On every level its truth has been unyielding, and I can trace most of my failures as a father back to either falling short in rightly loving and honoring my wife, or falling short in calling my children to love and honor their mother.

So on this Father’s Day I praise God for my wife, pledging anew to justly love her and honor her and call our children to do the same.

Twist my arm…

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.” (Prov. 31:30).
But sometimes, all three are found together

aww, she is very lovely, Tom! And we also have told our sons over the years that the greatest gift that we can give them is to love each other! 😉 May you have a very blessed Father’s Day! Sherri
