On this Feast of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, I thought I would post this beautiful sharing of advice to a Mom in labor…

So. They say you’ve gone into labor today?

I’m not sure if anyone ever mentioned it, but there’s this wild law of the universe: a mother’s labor and delivery never ends, and you never stop having to remember to breathe.

    If men would read these wonderful words and put them into practice every day of their married life, they would be far better fathers to their children and far more caring lovers of their wives to whom they committed their lives at some point. Far too many of us work ourselves to heart attacks for the material welfare of our families, but forget the beauty of the lives for which we are doing it. Yesterday’s gospel about material wealth ought to wake us up to the things of REAL importance, “the smell of heaven” in the aura of a newborn child.
