In his last letter, written a few days before Robert Frost died, he wrote:
“Salvation we will never have from anyone but God.”
For me, that is Lent in a nutshell.
Because of a few unexpected things that came up, I will unfortunately have to extend my pause. I will shoot for March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation, to resume. Si Deus vult. I pray your Lent continues to go well. That your chosen or un-chosen challenges can become opportunities for cross-bearing, offered to you by Christ with great love, as he invites you to interweave your arms with his like Simon of Cyrene.
In the meantime, I would like to share these two videos of the late Bishop Dave O’Connell. I believe they will both bless you. The first is a tribute to his life and ministry made in 2017, the second a remarkable talk he gave to youth in 2022. If you can set aside 25 minutes for prayer for the second video, his gentle sincerity is powerful. I did not know of him until the news of his tragic murder came to light. But now, I am a devotee of this friend of the outcasts…
This is my absolute favorite painting of my favorite station 🙂
Grace, I was just about to forward this to you and then saw your comment 🙂
Amazing Grace in Bishop Dave! So glad I listened to that beautiful man’s message of how to talk with Jesus! My grandchildren will benefit from this!
